Does alternative medicine work? Scientific studies have yet to answer that question, but dog owners are voting with their pocketbooks. Almost a third of pet owners say they've used some form of alternative treatment on their animals.
Virtually every (human) alternative medical practice, from acupuncture to Bach flower remedies, has been tried on dogs. Even the American Veterinary Medical Association, the guardian of traditional veterinary education and practice, has acknowledged alternative medicine by publishing guidelines for its use in animals.
