Because Shaff works with a medium-format camera that produces unusually large negatives, her images have an extraordinary clarity that's hard achieve with a traditional camera. That clarity, combined with her use of sepia, square-shaped prints, and a soft-focus background, give many of Shaff's portraits an old-world elegance. Shaff prides herself on learning a dog's personality and habits before taking his photograph. |
