Whether you're making a quick dash for kibble and a rawhide chew, or shopping for a dog bed that won't clash with your Eames chairs, we recommend you start at Best In Show. The shop's two locations on the Castro are brimming with bright, fun toys, stylish accessories, high-end treats, and select lines of food (including prepared raw diets). The original, Sanchez Street location focuses on the basics and offers dog-walking and pet-sitting services, puppy socials, and training classes. The newer Castro Street store, just a few blocks away, showcases luxury wares with a dash of wit, like plush "Chewnel #5" and "Dog Perignon" squeaky toys, high-style carriers, Swarovski crystal collars, and other fashions for the haute dog.
Best In Show isn't only a terrific store, it's also a committed member of the canine community, often hosting adoption days and fundraisers for local rescue groups, including one of our favorite only-in-San-Francisco events: an annual dog-wash manned by Speedo-wearing hunks to benefit PAWS.
