Founded in 1991 and named for its owners' fox terrier, George was among the first companies to make pet products that are smartly designed, sophisticated, and witty. Their stores are packed with their colorful, creative products unified by a common aesthetic and philosophy. For example, their signature image, a bright yellow stick, is available in the form of a vinyl chew toy, on the side of a ceramic dinner dish, and embossed on a corduroy quilt. It's not all about looks, though. George goods are functional and sturdy. According to their website, the motivation behind the company was to design "goods that were as pleasing to look at and live with as they were to chew, sleep on, wear, and eat out of." Besides their own products, George carries books, vintage pet products, and posters.
