This a fabulous spot for dogs who love to swim, though be wary of strong winds and dangerous riptides. Also, the beach can get crowded so have your dog under good voice control. The Ocean Beach Dog Owners' Group advocates for the rights of dogs and dog guardians who use the beach.

The beach runs for three and a half miles along Great Highway, from the Cliff House to Fort Funston. You can park between the Cliff House and Balboa St. or between Fulton St. and Lincoln Way.
