The three and a half miles of shoreline along Great Highway, from the Cliff House to Fort Funston. There are free parking lots along the road.

This a fabulous spot for dogs who love to swim, though be wary of strong winds and dangerous riptides. Also, the beach can get crowded so have your dog under good voice control. As part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, Ocean Beach's policy on off-leash dogs is in flux. Currently there are no restrictions, except on crowded days in the seawall area between Cliff House and Golden Gate Park, you may be asked to leash your dog(s). The Ocean Beach Dog Owners' Group advocates for the rights of dogs and dog guardians who use the beach.
