This off-leash area is in the northern portion of McLaren Park, between LaGrande and Dublin Sts. and adjacent to the community garden. Street parking only.

Much smaller than the other dog play area in the park (see McLaren Park below), this off-leash zone consists of 1.8 acres of grassy fields framed by trees. Two plusses: the park boasts one of the city's better playgrounds for children, and the Crocker Amazon area is said to get more sun than almost anywhere else in San Francisco.

This is the largest official dog play area in the city. It's a 59 acre hilltop bounded by Shelly Dr. Street parking only.

This underutilized park, once considered dangerous, has been transformed, particularly in its northern sections, where there are typically many families, as well as people hiking, running, and walking their dogs. You'll probably not want to be here after dark, though, and it's best to avoid parking in an isolated area. Note: Dogs are not allowed to swim in the reservoir.
