A gorgeous spot with great views of the skyline, the Golden Gate Bridge and the Marin Headlands, this is Doggie Nirvana. It's well set up for dogs and people alike, with poop bag dispensers, dog drinking fountains, plenty of trashcans, and even bathrooms. Negotiations are on going with the National Park Service to maintain the off-leash privileges that have been in force here for decades. As of June 2005 NPS allows dogs off-leash everywhere North of New Mason St.
Leashes are required in parking lots and picnic areas. Avoid fenced-off wildlife protection areas. The Crissy Field Dog Group is working to advocate for dog guardians who use the area. On the third Saturday of each month they meet at around 10 a.m. at the East Beach parking lot picnic tables to clean up. Email crissyfielddog@sbcglobal.net to confirm upcoming clean-up dates.
