A shelter serving all the cities in San Mateo County , the Peninsula Humane Society holds a vaccination and microchipping clinic on the first Wednesday of each month from 6 - 8 p.m. The clinic offers low-cost vaccination for rabies, distemper, and DHPP ($10 each), plus microchipping for $20. For residents of Belmont, San Mateo, East Palo Alto and the unincorporated areas of the county, microchipping is just $12. The fee includes registration in the Peninsula Humane Society database and clients receive a packet for registration in the national database, which costs an additional $17.50. Microchipping is also available at the same cost on a drop-in basis during shelter hours.
The Peninsula Humane Society also conducts an annual free clinic for East Palo Alto residents each fall and one for Daly City residents each spring.
At their Spay & Neuter Clinic, neutering runs from $65 to $105 and spaying from $70 to $120 depending on weight. Surcharges will apply for dogs who are pregnant, obese, or have had a cesarean. The clinic does not spay or neuter dogs over 100 lbs.
While you're there, you can take advantage of low prices on other services, for spay/neuter clients only, including nail clipping ($5), expressing anal glands ($10), tape worm treatment ($15), ear cleaning and treatment ($15 and $20, respectively), dew claw removal ($25) and pre-surgery lab work ($50).
Hours:
Spay & Neuter Clinic: Monday through Friday, by appointment only.
Vaccination & Microchipping Clinic: First Wednesday of each month, 6 - 8 p.m.
