| Palo Alto Animal Services |
 |
A division of the Palo Alto Police Department, Animal Services runs the city shelter and also offers low-cost spay and neuter surgery and routine vaccinations.
Neutering ranges from $50 to $120 depending on weight, and spaying is $15 more in each weight class. Guardians who live outside of Palo Alto are charged an extra $5.
Microchipping is $25 for residents and non-residents alike. Vaccinations can be performed during spay and neuter surgery or at a walk-in clinic, on Wednesdays from noon to 1 p.m. (it's a good idea to call in advance, just to be sure the clinic is happening on the Wednesday you have in mind). Prices range from $10 for the rabies vaccine to $15 for bordetella or a 5-in-1 (Distemper-Parvo). A heartworm test can be performed, in conjunction with spay or neuter surgery, for $25.
Hours:
Drop-in Vaccination Clinic: Wednesday, noon - 1 p.m.
Spay and neuter and microchipping services: By appointment only.
