Some of the lowest prices we've seen in the Bay Area are at the Marin Humane Society's monthly vaccination and microchip clinic. There, rabies shots or combo vaccinations (distemper, adenovirus II, parainfluenza, parvovirus) are only $5, and microchipping is a very reasonable $20.
However, the spay and neuter program here is less extensive than at some of the other places we've listed (and more expensive, though still far less than at the average vet's office). Spaying costs $100 for dogs up to 30 lbs and is not offered at all for those over 30 lbs. Neutering begins at $100 for dogs under 50 lbs and runs to $175 for those over 100 lbs.
The organization's SHARE program (Special Human-Animal Relationships) provides vital services-including free food delivery, dog walking, and transportation to vet appointments-to help low-income seniors, people with AIDS, and those receiving hospice services keep and care for their companion animals.
