Pets Unlimited was founded in 1947 by a group of citizens who wanted to find homes for dogs at the city pound. It has evolved into a nonprofit organization that offers a variety of free and low-cost pet services like spaying and neutering, 24-hour vet care, grooming, and boarding, in addition to running a shelter.

In 2004, the Adoption Center placed 328 cats and 59 dogs into new homes.

They are taken from shelters around the Bay Area.

For dogs under 7 years old the fee is $125. The rate for senior dogs is $75. The fee includes a microchip, spaying or neutering, vaccines and parasite treatments.

You will be interviewed by an adoption counselor and asked to fill out an application.

Proof that pets are allowed in your home is required, so bring a copy of your lease or mortgage statement. If everything checks out, someone from the shelter will visit you at home to make sure everything is a-ok for a new dog.

Pets Unlimited is funded by contributions and by the revenue from its veterinary, grooming, and boarding services.
